Beyond data. Toward human impact.

The State of the SDGs: Navigating Sustainability on Curaçao is an 8 episode documentary series produced by The Recycled Pirate in collaboration with Aisvarya Productions, supported by Hannah-Lize Creative Studio and Purple Vision Curaçao.

Each episode explores one or more of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals through the lens of Curaçao, spotlighting the local organizations, changemakers and communities already doing the work.

From tackling poverty and hunger to protecting life below water, the series makes the global SDG framework tangible and local. New episodes premiere throughout the year, and every episode is accompanied by a conversation on social media. 🌱

“Whether we’re working on a specific project or for each other, we’re always working for Curaçao.”

The world is changing, and so is the way we build our community. We don’t just talk about sustainability: we document its heartbeat.

We bridge the gap between high level policy and grassroots reality. By combining strategic consultancy with human centric storytelling, we help organizations, government bodies and businesses navigate the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Our mission is to turn global goals into local action. Through The State of the SDGs, we are creating a living record of our island’s transition toward 2030.

Behind the scenes

Moments from the series 📸

Connecting the goals 🧠

The SDGs never stand alone. Progress on one goal can lift another, or put it under pressure. That is exactly why local conversations matter.

✨ Synergies

SDG 6SDG 14
Clean water and sanitation supports life below water: cleaner wastewater means healthier marine life.

SDG 17SDG 16
Partnerships for the goals strengthen peace, justice and strong institutions, the foundations of safety and security.

⚖️ Trade offs

SDG 2SDG 14
Zero hunger and life below water: producing more food can put extra pressure on our seas.

SDG 5SDG 10
Gender equality and reduced inequalities: focusing on one group can leave another feeling left behind.
